Phil Brooke
Dr Philip Brooke, counselling psychologist: I work in an integrative way, which means I can draw upon different approaches to psychological therapy (CBT, psychodynamic & humanistic, trauma focused).
I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of my work- this means respecting and accepting you as you are, while supporting you enough to help you to make changes in your life that feel meaningful to you.
I currently work part-time in the NHS in a secondary care psychological therapies service offering group and individual therapy, and I am trained in EMDR (trauma therapy) and CAT (cognitive analytical therapy) - see http://www.acat.me.uk/page/about+cat for more information.
I have experience working with grief, neuro-diversity, from anxiety and depression through to more complex and enduring mental health problems, brief and long term therapy, and also in LGBTQ mental health.
I trained in counselling psychology at London Metropolitan University and qualified at the beginning of 2020. I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Association of Cognitive Analytical Therapy (ACAT), and the EMDR Association UK. I am also a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the BPS under the protected title of Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol).
All Practitioners at Brighton Consulting rooms work independently and are responsible for ensuring they are insured and, where applicable, are members of approved professional bodies.
